The pine nut is the seed of the Araucaria tree and the edible part of the pine cone. It is native to the South region and some areas of Southeast Brazil. It is most easily found between the months of March and August. In the past, pine nuts were widely consumed by indigenous people and are still present today in several typical festivals in the country. Made up of shells and almonds, the food stands out for its unique flavor and texture.
